Beginner Wheel Throwing Pottery Classes

Always wanted to learn to make ceramic pots on the wheel but learning in groups has put you off?

Our private 1:1 lessons may be just what you’re looking for.

Expert tuition that is tailored to your learning capacity and style and at a pace that allows you to grasp the techniques needed to produce cylinders and bowls.

In these beginner classes you will learn aspects of wedging the clay, centering, opening and pulling up even walls. We will also be learning how to trip a leather hard pot and glazing with the brush on technique. Passing on our knowledge of sustainable ceramic practices will be an important part of these classes. Individually, we have a responsibility to undertake a practice that considers our environmental impact.

Choose from two options:

5 weekly lessons 2.5 hours long. Cost: $450 includes a 10kg pack of clay and your own beginners tool kit.

Or weekly pay as you go lessons 2.5 hours. Cost: $105. Studio clay and tools available for use.

Prices include glazing and firing.

Beginner Hand Building Classes

1:1 or Group workshops hand building cups and bowls with clay slabs.

Hand building allows us to create functional more organic ceramic pieces in a shorter space of time. Molding, smoothing and sculpting clay is mindful, calming and transformational.

1:1 sessions available in my Gympie studio or the comfort of your own home.

3 - 3.5 hours duration.

You will learn the tips and techniques required to roll out even slabs, join pieces of clay, how to dry your pots successfully to avoid cracking or warping and how to create texture and designs into your pots.

You may even be lucky enough to learn my slip technique for creating the ocean and nature vibes I use on some of my pieces.
